Rookesbury Park Club Campsite

Having recently returned from a short stay at Rookesbury Park Club Campsite, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to share some of the details of the site as a venue.  As a family we have stayed at this site quite a few times over the last couple of years in our caravan and, last year, as Together Tents Ltd, we set up our first bell tent village there (with a repeat visit this year😊).

The site has lots to offer and is suitable for all age ranges.  One of the benefits for us as a family is the dedicated play park area – our kids love this and the fact that it is a safe space for them to play in and make new friends for the duration of their stay.  It is a fenced area which has park equipment, football goals, badminton net and a separate fenced dog area so is suitable for a range of different activities.  There is also a bike rack for leaving your bike in if you have cycled there from your pitch.

This leads me on to another feature – that is popular with my eldest son especially – and that is you can safely cycle around the whole site.  Due to the speed restrictions on the site and the lack of ‘traffic’ it is a safe space for cycling (or scooting) around. Depending on where you are pitched you can cycle to and from the toilet blocks, washing up areas, the shop (which is at reception), the park and the woods.

The site is located next to Hundred Acre woods and there is access to the woods directly from the campsite, another popular choice for my boys!

We have always found the staff friendly, polite and helpful – there was the year we had a new awning and despite our experience with marquees and tents we needed some ‘additional support’ to put it up. They were very helpful and didn’t laugh too much!

Whilst they have all the expected facilities (which are always clean and well maintained) a campsite should have, they do also have some additional ones.  They have a laundry room if you’re planning on a longer stay (or in a previous visit for us, a chance to do some washing before going home as our machine at home was broken!). In the summer months, they have a variety of food vans on different days of the week so, whilst you may be keen to BBQ, if you don’t feel like cooking every day you’re camped, then there are on-site alternatives too.  Another feature are their herb stands situated near the washing up blocks for you to help yourself to.  All these little touches make it a great site to stay on.

For us this is a site we will continue to return to as, whilst it isn’t far from home, for us it still allows us to have a little break from home whilst still being able to manage work commitments around it. On this occasion marquees were coming down the morning that we went and another went up the afternoon we returned home.
